CAt Bluegate is the creative alias of Catharina Styrenius Bergabo. Finding inspiration in daily life, conversations, memories and imagination, she uses stories, events, found language and snapped pictures from the world around her as starting points, with the aim of finding expression for an experience or observation that is true, or fun. Photographs are often altered, written and drawn on, in order to achieve the look or atmosphere she envisioned when she took the picture – or to bring out a scene discovered later within the picture she thought she had taken. She is intrigued by fragments, textual and visual, as the incomplete and random excites her imagination, and always on the lookout for found patterns, structures and aerial photos that can be turned into abstract pieces.
